LONDON, May 6th, 2008 - Meta Games Universal Ltd (MetaGU), today announced that its Cargo™ casino / VLT / AWP game generation system was selected among Casino Journal's Top 20 Most Innovative Technologies of 2007 for the gaming / gambling industry. “This award recognises the improvements that Cargo™ can make in the game creation process.”, said Owen Cullum, CEO of Meta Games Universal Ltd. ”Many manufacturers are losing money because of an inability to respond quickly enough to changes in regulations, technology (e.g. server based gaming) and customer requirements. Cargo™ represents a new ‘smart’ approach which will bring an order of magnitude improvement to the speed of the game development process and much needed flexibility. For example, one of its benefits is that it allows designers to create games without the need for a programmer, another is that it is not limited to any one type of game such as slots or poker etc.” Cargo is currently being interfaced to a number of regulated gaming platforms and a short on-line video demonstration is available, along with additional information, at www.metagu.com. The innovation award winners was selected by an independent panel of expert judges composed of John Forelli, VP of Information Technology at the Borgata Resort Casino, Sheleen Quish, CIO for Ameristar Casinos, Carol Pride, CIO at Pinnacle Entertainment and Kelly Segovia, Gaming Analyst and Consultant. The top three Most Innovative Products for 2007 will be decided by the attendees of this year's Gaming Technology Summit, happening May 20 - 22 at the Green Valley Ranch casino in Las Vegas. Meta Games Universal management and technical team members will also be in attendance and meetings may be arranged via the contact section of the www.metagu.com web site.
Cargo™ represents a new enabling technology for games. It is not just an innovative game generator but rather an extendible system for producing specific tailored game generators. It puts game development firmly into the hands of game designers by providing a friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI) where virtually any type of Casino / VLT or AWP game (not just slot games) can be generated. The designer never needs to care about software code. Because the game executables are automatically generated, it removes the software coding stage completely. Cargo™ also brings significant benefits to the requirements capture, testing and approvals stages of development. It is based on an innovative “Model based” code generation technology (patent pending) which is uniquely applicable to both new and existing platforms. It therefore supports development for both traditional and Server-Based Gaming (SBG) platforms without platform changes. By separating design from implementation Cargo™ enables the same game to be generated for multiple platforms. Software developers can extend Cargo™ to develop new types of games and interface Cargo™ to new platforms. Additionally, Cargo™ enables game production to be safely opened up to 3rd parties without exposing manufacturer software IP (Intellectual Property).
Meta Games Universal is an independent software company founded by successful experienced developers in the field of regulated casino / VLT gaming machines and the associated servers. The founders, Owen Cullum and Tobias Selwood, played key roles in the development of Cyberview Technology’s SBG platform handling over 8000 gaming terminals simultaneously. Owen also led the team that developed Cyberview Technology’s Server-based downloadable platform, which was the first downloadable gaming system approved for use in US domestic Class III casinos. In addition, that system won a number of awards. Tobias, previously a software team leader at Cyberview Technology, was responsible for video terminal development and played a leading role in the development of Cyberview’s new generation server-based downloadable terminals.
